Scan Options

On this configuration page you can define settings for full registry backup and scan process (Screenshot).

Here are the following options.

Ignore read-only entries
In Windows many registry keys are restricted for changes even for administrators. This option allows to hide registry keys that cannot be modified by user.
Limit scan by number of errors
This option allows to set a max number of errors to be found per registry scan. In many cases Registry First Aid finds several hundreds or even thousands of errors in the registry. Scanning for all those errors and finding corrections may take a LOT of time. Also, as it is suggested to verify every correction suggestion, it is very hard to do so with hundreds of errors.
With this option you can limit the maximum number of errors increasing the program scanning speed and making it easier to verify the errors found. To clean the whole system, you just will need to make several scans. And guess what? Scanning several times with a limit of 200 errors is FASTER than scanning only one time with 1000 errors found and verifying them all. Note that on the first scan of drives for corrections, their file contents are being cached. So subsequent scans are much faster.

Show warning message on reaching the limit
This option defines if a pop-up message on reaching the scan limit will be displayed. That message allows to continue the scan or turn off the scan limit for all future registry scans.

Registry hives to scan
This option allows to select what user hives to scan - only hive of the current user or hive for all users. See the Scan all user registry files or only the current user file.
Option to create full registry backup
This allows to select:
- how often a full registry backup will be created before registry scan. Available values are from 0-Never to 30 days. See Create full registry backups;
- if a System Restore Point (System Backup) should be created before scan. See Create system backups;
